Last month we discussed the virtues of having tools that make quickly the work of metal fabrication. Once the frame comes out of the jig, art work sets in with files of all sizes and tooth depths. I had a student make quick work a frame that was near finish when he took a bastard file and now the frame is going back to the torch to put more joining material on

With the hard metals that are use in frame building, I get approximately two frames for each file. These are to be replaced before the next is to come through. We are looking at $60 worth of files.

.
When the heavy clean-up is finished I use these small files. Fillets require at least 16 hours of art work before the paint starts to fly. Mind you that I lay down the silver smooth as one can, however the eye can detect shadows and the metal needs to be worked until the artist is satisfied.
