| I am using two of these original
Sachs Super Severn since 1990 and have over 40,000 miles on them. When
calling a distributor for the possibilities of small parts, I was told
that they never heard of someone having this much usage on these units….
They don’t know me very well do they??!! I commute all year around
and over haul once a year. The last time I had only 3 out of 7 gears
working (Sound familiar?). Using a laboratory ultrasonic cleaner that
sends high frequency sound through the cleaning solution, I ‘buzz’
things clean. Got back that new shifting feeling for another year!
If you want this hub to last, I suggest that you box it up and send
it this way to bring back the life it so deserves. I have made a name
for this Shoppe by cleaning and tuning using the cleaner. I recommend
that you take a 2X2 and drill a 3/8" hole in the center and slip
it over the axle after you wrap the axle with a thin plastic bag.
Price for your Super 7 service is $100 + $15 for return shipping in
American dollars in the continental United States.
I overhauled this hub in March of 2003.

Planetary gears provide smooth shifting if properly cleaned
and lubricated. There are many sets of bearings in the hub that
need to be greased upon occasion.

When you disconnect the shifter ‘hub’ you will
find these items. Remove them and store them somewhere they cannot
be lost.
Cleaning the rod with thinner and re lube with heavy weight oil
like Phill's Tenacious oil.

| Remove hub using a 15mm wrench to prevent rounding out the nut.
When sending in the wheel, I recommend that you drill out a 1x1
with a 3/8ths drill bit and slide it over the axle to prevent damage
during shipping. |
