Since the beginning of the single speed era, more and more riders are changing their favorite multi-speed to a single speed. When considering doing this, a replacement dropout should be used that is similar to the one that is going to be replaced. If you have a dropout that has tabs that insert to the stays then replace them with a like single speed unit. I prefer the Paul’s because of the axle stops.

Dropouts replaced: $200 or $125 less paint fade for labor and then the cost of the dropout..
Here you can replace your multi geared frame to a single speed.

Single speed dropouts offered are:

The Conversion Dropout is extra long so it can be used to convert existing frames to single speed, after removing the original dropouts. It has a long slot for gearing freedom.

The Mountain Dropout is beefier, with the tab angles set for off road geometries.
