The “StayTite”© seat stay cluster was originally manufactured for the S-3 frame to reduce the amount of heat to the seat tube during build and at the same time increase the strength of the seat cluster. Due to the nature of the S-3 wall thickness, True Temper Sports does not want the frame builder to ream the seat tube after joining the seat stays and top tube. Jalon Hawk meticulously hand files the seat stays to wrap around the seat tube and join into the top tube. Just a few strokes at a time with the file creates a ‘miter’ that mates the tubes to allow the tolerances of .005 inch gap for maximum strength of the 45% silver joining material. With over 5 times the surface area of a conventional fast-back join, the strength of this cluster is more than adequate for even the largest of riders. In addition to the strength of the cluster, the torsion rigidity is beyond anything I have ever experienced, adding to the quality of the ride.
